Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race [VIDEO]
Marblehead Patch was out and on the water for the start of the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race Sunday afternoon.
Sailors from across the Northeast departed from Marblehead harbor Sunday afternoon as the 34th biennial Marblehead-to-Halifax Ocean Race began.
Hundreds of area residents hit the water and lined the shoreline for a chance to see the start of the first class yachts at 1 p.m. Guests were spread out among the Boston Yacht Club, Corinthian Yacht Club and Eastern Yacht Club and the launches were kept busy shuttling them from club to club last weekend.
More than 90 yachts are expected to complete the 363 nautical mile race. Yachts from Canada, New York, Maryland and Connecticut made the journey to Marblehead to participate in the race.
