An unidentified woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after rolling her vehicle over the anchor at the entrace to Devereux Beach.

Shortly after 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, local police and fire units responded to the entrance of the Ocean Avenue beach for a reported roll-over accident, according to scanner reports.

Police have yet to identify the driver, who was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle. Witnesses on scene said it appeared that the woman had suffered a medical emergency and may have hit the gas instead of the brake.

The vehicle was towed away from the scene and local firefighters cleaned up a small gasoline leak.
