Buoy oh buoy! Tinkers' gong washed up on Phillips Beach.

A big thanks to Marblehead Patch reader Francie Grynkraut for sending along these photos of Tinkers' gong, which washed up on Preston Beach following Hurricane Sandy.

Grynkraut was on the scene while the gong was being picked up by the US Coast Guard earlier this week.

Grynkraut said those loading up the massive marker were taking the gong to a buoy depot in South Weymouth, where it may end up being refurbished.

For the time being, another gong will be put in it's place, she said.
