Terry's Ice Cream Hoping Breakfast Will Boost Business
The owner of Terry's Olde Fashion Ice Cream Shop has been given permission to open at 7 a.m. and serve donuts, bagels and coffee.
The owner of Terry's Olde Fashion Ice Cream Shop was awarded a common victualler's license at Wednesday night's meeting of the Board of Selectmen and was also granted permission to open early to serve coffee, bagels and donuts.
Now that work on the inside of his new 50s-style ice cream parlor is nearly complete, owner Carlos Rocha said he expects to be open for business before the end of the month.
And while he said his primary focus will be on serving up ice cream for the time being - Rocha said he asked for permission to open at 7 a.m. so he would have the option of serving breakfast.
"I've done it before and I may end up needing to do it during the winter," Rocha said. "We used to sell Krispy Kremes."
Rocha also asked board members for more information about getting permission for some outdoor seating in a small area outside the shop's front door.
It was just a little over a year ago that an electrical fire left Rocha's former location on School Street with extensive water and smoke damage.
