Tales From the Marblehead Police Log

Here's a look back at some of the entries that were included in our police log posts this week.

 

Every weekday morning, Marblehead Patch posts entries from the Marblehead Police Department's log from the day before. Then, on Sunday, we offer a round-up od some of the more notable entries.

The following was submitted by the Marblehead Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, July 20:

  • At 9:07 a.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian nearly hit by a white sedan at the intersection of West Shore Drive and Jersey Street.
  • At 10:55 a.m., police received word that a tractor trailer had pulled down some wires on Jersey Street.
  • At 11:30 a.m., police responded to a report that a Columbia Pictures movie truck had hit a parked Toyota Corolla on Atlantic Avenue.
  • At 11:40 a.m., police responded to a report of a low wire near the intersection of West Shore Drive and Pitman Road.
  • At 1:33 p.m., a Trinity Road resident entered the police station to report being the victim of identity fraud.
  • At 1:37 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Pleasant Street.
  • At 1:45 p.m., a Cottage Street resident called police to report that a contractor had come by her house to "look at her deck" unannounced. The man reportedly said he was a sub-contractor for the town.
  • At 1:53 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pleasant and Spring streets.
  • At 2:14 p.m., a man called police to report someone stole the tires off of his bicycle while it was locked up on Humphrey Street.
  • At 2:18 p.m., a resident called police to report losing a children's bike a couple of weeks ago. The bike reportedly has the word "Misty" written on it.
  • At 3:50 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Washington Street.
  • At 5:49 p.m., police responded to a report of a low wire on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 7:26 p.m., an Elm Street resident called police to complain about two kids on a mini-bike who were pulling others on a bike and a skateboard down the street. The kids were reportedly gone by the time police arrived.
  • At 7:43 p.m., a resident near the intersection of West Shore Drive and Overlook Road called police to report that a woman with a broken leg asked for directions to Salem and said she had been lost in Marblehead for four hours.
  • At 8:05 p.m., police responded to a report of an attempted vehicle break-in on Tedesco Street.
  • At 9:27 p.m., police responded to a report of two drunk men jumping in front of cars near the intersection of West Shore Drive and Lorraine Terrace.
  • At 11:03 p.m., police responded to a report of loud music on High Street.
  • At 11:37 p.m., the clerk at 7-11 called police to report that a man just punched and broke the store's front glass window. The man reportedly left the area toward Basset Street with no shirt on.

Saturday, July 21:

  • At 12:28 a.m., a Londonderry Road woman called police to report that her children told her someone had been knocking on their front door and rattling the handle.
  • At 1:36 a.m., a Pleasant Street woman called police to report that her son was drunk and out of control.
  • At 3:24 a.m., an 83-year-old Farrell Court woman called police to request lift assistance from Atlantic Ambulance.
  • At 8:55 a.m., an Orne Street woman called police to report that her husband had fallen down and she needed assistance picking him up. The man was later transported to Salem Hospital.
  • At 9:24 a.m., a Ralph Road woman called police to complain about a neighbor who was holding a yard sale "for the fourth week in a row."
  • At 10:43 a.m., police responded to a report of an MBTA bus that had become stuck near the intersection of Pleasant and Washington streets.
  • At 11:10 a.m., a resident called police to report that a man in a black SUV had just dumped trash in a park on West Shore Drive and left the area.
  • At 2:44 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Tedesco Street and Leggs Hill Road involving a 2006 Chevy Traveller and a 2001 Lexus RX 300.
  • At 5:22 p.m., police responded to a report of kids firing a PVC pipe potato cannon near Leggs Hill Road. The kids agreed to stop firing the cannon and leave the area when confronted by police.
  • At 6:01 p.m., a Glendale Road resident called police to report that an inflatable boat had gone missing.
  • At 8:14 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on West Shore Drive.
  • At 8:18 p.m., police responded to a report of loud music on Bennett Road.
  • At 9:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman screaming in the street on Bennett Road. The woman was reportedly screaming at her neighbors for calling the cops on her earlier. She was placed in protective custody and transported to Salem Hospital.
  • At 11:07 p.m., a Jersey Street man called police to complain that a loud party nearby had woken up his children.
  • At 11:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a party with fireworks on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 11:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Pleasant and Anderson streets involving a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2006 Toyota Scion.

Sunday, July 22:

  • At 12:22 a.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man walking up the street near the intersection of Hawkes and Lindsey streets.
  • At 12:38 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on West Shore Drive.
  • At 1:56 a.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of West Shore Drive and Village Street involving a 1999 Toyota Taurus. The car reportedly went over a wall and onto a homeowner's front lawn. Philp W. Freidin, 21, of 23 Pinecliff Drive, Marblehead, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 8:31 a.m., a local woman called police to report that for the last two weeks she has found a man sleeping on a park bench at Fort Sewall while walking her dog.
  • At 9:16 a.m., a man on Jersey Street called police to complain about a neighbor who was playing electric guitar.
  • At 9:24 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on Puritan Road.
  • At 10:29 a.m., a Pleasant Street woman called police to report that her German Shepard had run off and may be in her neighbor's backyard. The woman's children agreed to address their mother's medical needs.
  • At 3:16 p.m., a resident entered the police station to speak to an officer about "an incident."
  • At 5:29 p.m., police responded to a report of a Jeep that had been driven out onto a field on Green Street. The Jeep was reportedly parked next to the street hockey area.
  • At 7:14 p.m., a Merritt Street resident called police to report that the shootings in Colorado are a "copy-cat of an incident in the 2008 movie 'Midnight Movie.'" a well-being check was reportedly requested by the officer in charge.

Monday, July 23:

  • At 12:11 a.m., police conducted a property check at Fort Sewall and moved along a man who was on a park bench there.
  • At 2:29 a.m., a Sewall Street woman called police to report that she came home to find her boyfriend drunk and he said he was planning on driving.
  • At 10:09 a.m., local firefighters provided lift assistance to a 73-year-old woman on Village Street.
  • At 1:44 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street involving a 2010 Toyota Venza and a 2008 Volvo S70.
  • At 2:42 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report of a three-car motor vehicle accident on Humphrey Street involving a 2003 Subaru Forrester, a 2010 GMC Terrain and a 2005 Ford Explorer. One of the passengers involved in the crash was reportedly transported to the hospital with a head injury.
  • At 4:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Atlantic Avenue involving a 2002 Honda Accord and a 2002 Honda Civic.
  • At 8:14 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Stacey Street involving a 1992 Volvo 740. The driver of the car reportedly struck and snapped a utility pole in a parking lot and damaged the office at Old North Church.
  • At 11:42 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud pool party at Peach Highlands.

Tuesday, July 24:

  • At 12:58 a.m., police responded to a report of a silver Honda CRV doing loops around the neighborhood "going at least 45 mph." Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • At 12:59 a.m., police conducted a property check at Fort Sewall.
  • At 9:45 a.m., police responded to a report that a tractor trailer truck was stuck near the intersection of Elm and Pearl streets.
  • At 9:47 a.m., a man parked on the side of the road near the intersection of Lafayette Street and Tully Road was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
  • At 10:39 a.m., an Andrews Lane resident entered the police station to turn in a BB gun for destruction.
  • At 11:21 a.m., a Rose Avenue resident called police to report that "last night a car came racing down Rose Avenue and the occupants threw out a yellow 'Go Slow' guy."
  • At 2:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a car nearly hitting several pedestrians at the intersection of West Shore Drive and Calumet Lane.
  • At 2:52 p.m., a resident called police to report that he went to his friend's house on Baldwin Road and found him "ready to hit his father over the head with a frying pan." The man said his friend was now threatening him.
  • At 3:10 p.m., police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street involving a 2009 Ford Fusion and a 2000 Infiniti I30. A woman called police after she was reportedly rear-ended in a driver's education car.
  • At 5:13 p.m., a Broughton Road resident called police to report that a bike was stolen from her front porch.
  • At 5:46 p.m., a Pond Street resident called police to report that an unwanted person was refusing to leave.
  • At 5:59 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Bessom Street.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police received a complaint regarding kids riding scooters up and down Hillside Avenue.
  • At 7:22 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Ruby Terrace.
  • At 9:38 p.m., police responded to a reported vehicle break-in on Peach Highlands.

Wednesday, July 25:

  • At 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report of four or five kids sitting in a parked car in the parking lot on Stramski Way. The kids' parents were reportedly called to pick up them up.
  • At 7:58 a.m., police responded to a report of low wires on Atlantic Avenue.
  • At 8:14 a.m., a local woman called police to report that a "fish head was discovered on her doorstep." The woman told police she thought "it was placed there by an ex-boyfriend who keeps harassing her."
  • At 9:40 a.m., a resident on Humphrey Street called police to report that a backstop was damaged.
  • At 9:57 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Atlantic Avenue involving a local cyclist.
  • At 10:39 a.m., a Maple Street woman called police to report that there was an unwanted man in her house.
  • At 8:15 p.m., police and fire units responded to a boat fire at the Village Street pier. A girl who reportedly jumped from the vessel into the water was picked up by a circling boat. The boat was reportedly taken to Winter Island in Salem while the investigation was underway.
  • At 9:19 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Smith Street.
  • At 10:36 p.m., a woman called police to report two suspicious men in a "suped up car" on Pleasant Street.

Thursday, July 26:

  • At 7:11 a.m., a woman entered the police station to "speak to an officer about her son."
  • At 8:41 a.m., police responded to a reported disturbance on Pleasant Street.
  • At 10:43 a.m., police responded to a report of a man driving around taking pictures of homes without cars in the driveways. The man was found to be working for a mortgage company.
  • At 10:52 a.m., police responded to an accidental 911 call from a home on Rowland Street.
  • At 11:03 a.m., a woman called police to report that she left her ATM card inside an ATM machine on Pleasant Street.
  • At 11:12 a.m., police responded to a parking complaint on Spring Street.
  • At 11:23 a.m., police received a complaint regarding tree root removal at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Baldwin Road.
  • At 12:36 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Atlantic Avenue.
  • At 1:15 p.m., a Beverly man was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop on Pleasant Street. Analdo Gonzalez, 50, of 20 Blain Ave., Beverly, was arrested for possessing a class B substance and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 1:21 p.m., a woman on Warre Road called police to complain about a trailer that had been parked across from her house since May.
  • At 1:39 p.m., a Front Street resident called police to report that he found someone stealing a bike from his basement for the second time.
  • At 1:42 p.m., a Front Street resident called police to report a felled tree branch in their yard.
  • At 2:00 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint on School Street.
  • At 3:05 p.m., police responded to a 99 hang-up on Humphrey Street.
  • At 7:06 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Village Street.
  • At 8:22 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Rowland Street.
  • At 8:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a defiant teen who was refusing to return to her home on Central Street.

Friday, July 27

  • At 12:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a stop sign facing the wrong way at the intersection of State and Front Street.
  • At 12:28 a.m., police responded to a report of a car alarm going off in the area of the intersection of Chestnut Street and Harbor View Lane.
  • At 1:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a young man near the tracks on Rockaway Avenue.
