Tales From the Marblehead Police Log

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Department's log:

Friday, June 8:

  • At 11:30 a.m., a Gallison Avenue woman entered the police station to report that a black box containing "paint tints" had been stolen.
  • At 1:18 p.m., police responded to a custody dispute on Pitman Road.
  • At 2:28 p.m., police and a DCF investigator responded to a school on Baldwin Road for a report of a "student who (had) bruising and marks on his face" and "indicated that the father was responsible." 
  • At 4:11 p.m., a local resident entered the police station to report a "lime green dolphin kayak" had gone missing from Nonatum Road.
  • At 7:50 p.m., a "man posing as a security guard" was asked to leave the movie set on West Shore Drive.
  • At 10:59 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud party on Martin Street.
  • At 11:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a minor motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street.

Saturday, June 9:

  • At 12:06 a.m., police responded to a report of loud music on Stramski Way.
  • At 1:02 a.m., police responded to a report of loud music on Leggs Hill Road.
  • At 1:16 a.m., police pulled over a gray 2000 Mercedes E320 on State Street. William McKindree Reiley, 19, of 22 Everett Pain Blvd., Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 7:38 a.m., a Haley Road woman called police to report that her car was struck while parked.
  • At 9:51 a.m., a Pitman Road woman called police to report finding a generic 10-speed silver off-road bike with a black seat in front of his neighbor's house. The DPW was notified and agreed to pick up the bike.
  • At 11:33 a.m., a man called police to report that his bench was stolen from in front of the Mugford building overnight.
  • At 4:33 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Ocean Avenue involving a drivers ed car.
  • At 4:39 p.m., police responded to minor motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street.

Sunday, June 10:

  • At 12:30 a.m., police moved a "large group" out of the Devereux Beach visitors lot.
  • At 2:22 a.m., a resident on Pleasant Street called police to report finding a man "sleeping in the ramp." The man was described as wearing "pants and a jacket and 'not in the right way." 
  • At 9:21 a.m., a Lincoln Avenue woman called police to report that her car was broken into overnight.
  • At 9:49 a.m., a Washington Street woman called police to report that several of her flower boxes were damaged overnight.
  • At 9:59 a.m., a Mooring Road resident called police to report that small motorboat was sinking and the three people onboard "were attempting to bail." The Salem Harbormaster responded to the scene and found that it was a 1970 Larson and Low power boat that had a "significant crack in it."
  • At 10:47 a.m., a Humphrey Street resident entered the police station to report being the victim of credit card fraud.
  • At 3:18 p.m., a Naugus Avenue resident called police to report that their vehicle had been broken into overnight.
  • At 5:20 p.m., a man on Nicholson Street called police to report that his girlfriend "bit him, smashed his phone and tried to run him over in front of Richdale's."

Monday, June 11:

  • At 7:57 a.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Street involving a 2006 Jeep Commander and a 2004 Toyota Sienna. The accident did not result in any injuries.
  • At 10:00 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Maverick Street.
  • At 11:46 a.m., a Washington Street woman called police to file a parking complaint against the florist next door.
  • At 12:25 p.m., an officer on Washington Street stopped a motorist operating a minibike the wrong way up a one-way street and then on the sidewalk. The motorist will reportedly be mailed a citation.
  • At 1:14 p.m., a motorist near the intersection of Beach Street and Ocean Avenue called police to report that a black Ford Expedition had just passed him and "ran him off the road."
  • At 2:05 p.m., a Commercial Street woman called police to report that her neighbor "came to her driveway and partially cut her rose bush."
  • At 2:32 p.m., a resident on Jersey Street called police to report that there was "an elderly female asking for a ride." The woman was not in the area when police arrived.
  • At 3:55 p.m., a Lincoln Avenue resident called police to report that his car was broken into and money and a ring were stolen.
  • At 5:43 p.m., a local police officer reported that a resident at 83 Washington St. was irate that people were hanging around his house. The man, he reported, was taking pictures of him and was "pushing people around."
  • At 8:09 p.m., a Jersey Street woman called police to report that a strange man knocked on her door and asked for "Butch." The woman said the man then "got into a blue van and pulled a little bit down the road."
  • At 9:46 p.m., police responded to a report of a man screaming and crying outside of a home on Evans Road.

Tuesday, June 12:

  • At 5:01 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Washington Street involving a 2009 Toyota Rav4 that reportedly "backed into a house."
  • At 8:22 a.m., police responded to a report of "landscapers blocking the road" near the intersection of Harbor and Ocean avenues. A responding officer determined the blockage was just part of the Grown Ups 2 movie set.
  • At 1:27 p.m., a resident called police to complain about the way Terry's Ice Cream's ice cream truck was parked on Pleasant Street. A responding officer determined it was parked legally. 
  • At 2:51 p.m., police responded to a complaint about a teen driving a Jeep Cherokee dangerously on Smith Street.
  • At 6:15 p.m., a Rowland Street woman entered the police station to report that she had become the victim of credit card fraud.
  • At 11:07 p.m., a Stramski Way resident called police to complain about a "loud group of kids" at the Stramski Playground.

 Wednesday, June 13:

  • At 3:46 a.m., a Sewall Street resident called police to report that "someone (was) in his roommate's car and his roommate (was) at work." The door to the car was reportedly left open. Nothing was reportedly stolen from the car.
  • At 5:40 a.m., a Westminster Road resident called police to report that someone smashed the window to his 2003 Toyota Tacoma overnight and went through it.
  • At 10:26 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Washington Street involving a 2000 Toyota Camry and a 2007 Volvo XC90. The accident did not result in any injuries.
  • At 10:32 a.m., police responded to a report of a 2008 Toyota Yaris that was reportedly left running on Hillside Avenue for more than 12 hours. 
  • At 10:58 a.m., a Leggs Hill Road resident called police to report that their 1987 BMW 325IS had been broken into overnight and an iPhone and a wallet were stolen.
  • At 11:39 a.m., a local resident called police to report that he went on vacation earlier this month and couldn't find his car when he returned. The vehicle was later located.
  • At 12:34 p.m., a resident entered the police station to complain about the Grown Ups 2 parking restrictions.
  • At 2:47 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Rockaway Avenue.
  • At 3:25 p.m., a woman called police to report leaving a $3,500 software key (doggle) in the hall of a building on Anderson Street.
  • At 4:17 p.m., police responded to a complaint about a 2002 Toyota Sequoia driving dangerously on Maverick Street. The police reportedly allowed the driver's "father to handle" the situation.
  • At 4:20 p.m., a Village Street resident called police to report that they could "hear thumping against the transformers and thinks that kids are throwing rocks." Police did not locate anyone near the house.
  • At 5:28 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Leggs Hill Road involving a 2001 Chevy Impala and a 2003 Dodge Caravan. The accident did not result in any injuries.
  • At  6:26 p.m., a Franklin Street resident called police to complain about a bus that had parked and was "blocking (their) view of the harbor."
  • At 7:32 p.m., a Rowland Street resident entered the police station to report receiving a "threatening phone call from a former client."

Thursday, June 14

  • At 2:17 a.m., police responded to a loud party on Sewall Street.
  • At 10:50 a.m., a Cliff Street man called police to report receiving a threatening voicemail. The man told police he feared "the person is going to beat the hell out of him when he sees him."
  • At 11 a.m., police and fire units responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Humphrey and Laurel streets involving a 2010 Mercedes Marquis and a 2006 Chrysler Cruiser.
  • At 12:55 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle complaint on Cottage Street.
  • At 1:29 p.m., police responded to a "sewer back-up" on Village Street.
  • At 1:51 p.m., a Mariners Lane resident entered the police station to turn over a "gun belt with 16 .22-sized bullets in it" for destruction.
  • At 3:50 p.m., police responded to "serious screaming going on" near the intersection of Village and Bessom streets.
  • At 6:28 p.m., a Franklin Street resident called police to complain about a bus that was blocking his view of the harbor.
  • At 7:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a 2001 Mercedes CLK320 crashing into a bench in front of The Muffin Shop. The driver reportedly exited the store and "fell into his car." Police had to wash down the parking lot as the driver "relieved himself there." Edward A. Pacyna, 67, of 72 Pitman Road, Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 8:14 p.m., police responded to a parking complaint at the intersection of Prospect and Washington streets.
  • At 8:24 p.m., a Trager Road resident entered the police station to report being the victim of identity theft.
  • At 11:02 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks being set off on Front Street.
