Tales From the Marblehead Police Log
Here's a look back at some of the entries that were included in our police log posts this week.
Every weekday morning, Marblehead Patch posts entries from the Marblehead Police Department's log from the day before. Then, on Sunday, we offer a round-up od some of the more notable entries.
The following was submitted by the Marblehead Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Thursday, June 28:
- At 9:48 a.m., the local animal control officer responded to a report of a "sick raccoon on Kings Beach" in Swampscott. The raccoon was reportedly captured and brought to the station to be treated.
- At 10:23 a.m., police responded to a "heated personal discussion" in front of Tedesco Country Club.
- At 10:53 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle crash on Pleasant Street but the cars had reportedly left the area before officers arrived.
- At 12:33 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Washington Street involving a 2000 Toyota Sienna and a 2012 Lexus ES.
- At 12:46 p.m., a resident entered the police station with a fanny-pack discovered in front of Starbucks on Pleasant Street. the fanny-pack reportedly contained a Georgia driver's license, health care card and credit card.
- At 8:54 p.m., a 1998 Chevy Malibu was towed from the scene of a traffic stop on Front Street after police found that the vehicle was uninsured.
- At 11:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a "large group of youths screaming and having a party" on Arnold Terrace.
Friday, June 29:
- At 1:04 a.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Lincoln Avenue.
- At 1:11 a.m., a Casino Road man called police to report a stranger sitting on his front steps.
- At 1:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud party near the intersection of Elm and Cowell streets.
- At 4:10 a.m., a Pond Street resident called police to report "four young teenagers in a golf cart."
- At 11:25 a.m., police received word that a traffic light was out at the intersection of Pleasant and Maverick streets. The light was reportedly fixed soon after.
- At 1:02 p.m., a Beverly Avenue man entered the police station to report being threatened by his landlord.
- At 2:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an intoxicated man near the intersection of Mohawk Road and Pleasant Street.
- At 2:26 p.m., the owner of Caffe Italia entered the police station to report that plants were pulled from the planters in front of his restaurant and a neighboring business overnight. The value of the plants was reportedly $500.
- At 4:54 p.m., a blue and white child's trek bike was reportedly taken from a home on Atlantic Avenue.
- At 9:38 p.m., a Clipper Way resident called police to report "someone knocking on her back window."
- At 9:44 p.m., police responded ot a report of fireworks on Longview Drive.
Saturday, June 30:
- At 6:35 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Maverick Street.
- At 7:08 a.m., a resident entered the police station with an ID and a library card found on Pleasant Street.
- At 10:07 a.m., a resident entered the police station with a BB gun.
- At 10:33 a.m., police received a report of a past assault that occurred on Pleasant Street Saturday night. Alycia Falvey, 20, of 78 Pleasant St., Marblehead, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, domestic assault and battery, larceny under $250 and two counts of malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
- At 11:52 a.m., police received word that a red pickup truck had strewn brush along West Shore Drive.
- At 1:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a "woman walking up the street bawling" on Tedesco Street.
- At 4:30 p.m., a resident called police to report that their boat was being "knocked around by an unoccupied vessel" at a mooring near Brown's Island. The boat's owner reportedly agreed to move his vessel and said he would be "responsible for any damage."
- At 5:05 p.m., police received word that two men were drinking alcohol out of open containers on Washington Street. Police were reportedly unable to locate anyone.
- At 6:00 p.m., an Abbot View resident entered the police station to report a dispute.
- At 9:07 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Seaview Avenue.
- At 10:08 p.m., a boat named "SeaLegs" reportedly ran out of gas off of Marblehead Harbor. The Harbormaster responded to the scene and reported that the people on-board were intoxicated.
- At 10:41 p.m., police responded to a report of loud music on Cloutman's Lane.
- At 10:56 p.m., an employee at Village Market called police to report that a Honda Accord struck and knocked over a motorcycle in the parking lot.
Sunday, July 1:
- At 12:49 a.m., a Sheldon Road man called police to report that his car had been broken into "in the last two hours." Another vehicle in the neighborhood was also reportedly burglarized.
- At 1:19 a.m., a Richard Road resident called police to report that their neighbors were screaming.
- At 3:34 a.m., police responded to a report of people setting off fireworks near the intersection of Pleasant and Smith streets.
- At 6:17 a.m., a Green Street man called police to report that his flag had been stolen overnight.
- At 8:17 a.m., police responded to a report of a man screaming on Green Street.
- At 8:30 a.m., police and fire units responded to a reported low cable wire near the intersection of Washington and Nicholson streets.
- At 10:08 a.m., a Thompson Road resident entered the police station to report that her car was broken into overnight and items were taken.
- At 1:19 p.m., an Ida Road woman called police to report that her car was broken into overnight.
- At 4:31 p.m., an Ocean Avenue resident called police to report people throwing bottles.
- At 10:06 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud group on Devereux Beach.
Monday, July 2:
- At 1:11 a.m., police responded to a report of people yelling near the intersection of Chestnut and Walnut streets.
- At 6:58 a.m., an Arnold Terrace resident called police to report that paint had been thrown on a neighbor's car.
- At 10:10 a.m., Anthony Jackson, 48, of 55 Broad St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
- At 1:41 p.m., a Thompson Road man entered the police station to report that his truck had been broken into.
- At 2:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an elderly woman who was lost on Girdler Road.
- At 2:44 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Baldwin Road involving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma and a 1998 Dodge Neon.
- At 2:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man on Village Street.
- At 5:57 p.m., Kenny R. Ormitson, 43, of 29 Blueberry Road, Marblehead, was arrested on two non-Marblehead warrants.
- At 10:15 p.m., police located a group of kids with open containers by the access road on Smith Street. Though the kids fled the area when approached, a backpack was reportedly taken from the scene.
- At 10:52 p.m., an Atlantic Avenue resident called police to report "ongoing partying in the parking lot."
- At 11:13 p.m., a Richard Road resident called police to report a "loud pool party."
- At 11:18 p.m., an Abbot View man called police to report that his wife had hidden his keys. The man's wife told police she hid his keys because he hid her keys and wallet a few days ago.
Tuesday, July 3:
- At 6:12 a.m., a Barnard Street man called police to report that he confronted a man with tattoos for being too close to his wife's parked car and the man claimed he was "trying to catch squirrels that were on the roof of the car." Police later stopped the man and determined that he was just watching the squirrels.
- At 8:16 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Fort Sewall Terrace.
- At 8:30 a.m., a man entered the police station to report that he slapped mirrors with another vehicle on West Shore Drive.
- 9:09 a.m., a Barnard Street man called police to report that a car was parked in his private lot for several days.
- At 9:36 a.m., a local man entered the police station to report an incident at Star of the Sea Church on Atlantic Avenue.
- At 11:39 a.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Green Street and West Shore Drive involving a 2003 Honda Civic and a 2006 Ford Explorer.
- At 1:23 p.m., a Village Street resident called police to report that several beer cans were "strewn about" the pier nearby.
- At 1:31 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Pleasant Street.
- At 3:14 p.m., a local boater called police to report that the occupants of a green lobster boat were "firing guns."
- At 3:24 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Eustis Road.
- At 4:16 p.m., a man on Front Street called police to report that his boat was just hit by the Hannah Glover. The Harbormaster was reportedly notified.
- At 4:45 p.m., a local resident called police to complain about loud music at Crocker Park. Police reportedly told the caller that "it (was) not unreasonable on July 3rd at 4:45 p.m. to have music there and they (had) a permit."
- At 5:22 p.m., police responded to a report of "kids messing around with the gate and lock at" the access road to Marblehead High School.
- At 5:53 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Tedesco Street involving a 2012 Subaru Outback and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
- At 6:02 p.m., police and fire units responded to a reported grease fire on Roosevelt Avenue.
- At 8:13 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Jersey Street.
- At 6:18 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Bayview Road involving a 2004 Volvo V70 and a 2002 Ford Escape.
- At 8:56 p.m., police responded to a report of a physical altercation between a man and a woman near the intersection of Washington and Pleasant streets.
- At 10:14 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Fieldbrook Road.
- At 11:45 p.m., a State Street resident called police to report a loud group outside.
Wednesday, July 4:
- At 12:01 a.m., police responded to a report of fireworks near Manataug Trail.
- At 2:33 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Village Street.
- At 1:31 p.m., a Barnard Hawkes Court woman called police to report that her air conditioner was stolen from her apartment. A neighbor reportedly told her that they saw a "skinny white guy with a hat" knocking on her door earlier in the day.
- At 2:31 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Ocean Avenue.
- At 3:58 p.m., a local resident called police to complain about a party near Brown's Island.
- At 8:24 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Pleasant Street.
- At 8:59 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Atlantic Avenue.
- At 9:04 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Sheldon Road.
- At 9:20 p.m., police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Ocean and Atlantic avenues involving a 2004 Infiniti FX and a 2012 Honda Civic. Bradford C. Surner, 62, of 52 Humphrey St., Swampscott, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
- At 10:41 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Gerry Street involving a 2003 Honda Accord and a 2000 Toyota Camry.
- At 11:37 p.m., police responded to a report of fireworks on Surf Street.
- At 11:53 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud party on Bennett Road.
Thursday, July 5:
- At 1:13 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud party on Bennett Road.
- At 4:13 a.m., police responded to a reported stabbing on Washington Street. Matthew Ben Schwartz, 18, of 5 Walnut St., Apt. 1, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife).
- At 11:34 a.m., police responded to a burglar alarm on Atlantic Avenue.
- At 12:54 p.m., an Auburndale Road resident called police to report that the same car was parked in front of his house for three months.
- At 1:54 p.m., a woman called police to report losing her brown leather purse at the fireworks Wednesday night.
- At 10:31 p.m., Dereke G. Taylor, 45, of 430 Columbus Ave., Boston, was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a numbered plate violation and a non-Marblehead warrant.
Friday, July 6:
- At 7:33 a.m., a Tioga Way resident called police to report seeing two men "circling away the businesses slowly several times." The man said he believed the two men were "looking for scraps of metal."
