"Seasoned" to be Displayed at Abbot Library

The next exhibit in the library's Carten Gallery will be "Seasoned: The Paintings and Photography of Danielle Marie Dugan.

The following press release was issued by the Abbot Public Library:

The Abbot Public Library will present “Seasoned,” the first solo exhibit of artwork by Danielle Marie Dugan, from Friday, July 1st through Thursday, July 28th.  The show includes paintings, photographs and mixed media pieces.  All are invited to attend a public reception for the exhibit, in the Gallery, on Saturday, July 16th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Drawing from expressionist influences, Danielle uses vibrant colors in her paintings, along with impasto technique, to create “portraits” of her innermost feelings.  In her photographs, she attempts to capture the same deep emotions, preferring the simple contrasts of black and white photography to bring out the colorful spirit of her subjects.  Danielle creates her work, among a community of artists, at the Studios at Porter Mill, in Beverly, MA.

The show's title, “Seasoned,” is an allusion to the fact that Danielle is not only a visual artist.   She also is very much involved with the art and science of food preparation – working as a research and development test baker for a gourmet cookie company by day, and, in her spare time, as co-owner of New Moon Catering, a small company specializing in canning jams.

The Abbot Public Library is located at 235 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.  The Virginia A. Carten Gallery is on the building’s lower level.  For additional information, please call 781-631- 1481.
