Police Log: Craigslist Ad For Booze

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Log from Sunday, July 18, through Monday, July 19, at 7 a.m.

  • At 5:10 p.m. Sunday, the assistant harbormaster called police to report there was excessive sewage that appears to have been dumped into the harbor near the old Henry Bay Apartments on Lee Street. While he originally though it was a careless boater who dumped his sewage, he believes it came from land because of the size of the sewage. There was a pungent odor as well he said. Water and Sewer is investigating.
  • At 6:37 p.m., a caller reported to police that a craiglist advertisement for Marblehead/Swampscott under FOR SALE reads, "I am a high school student with a car and a Fake ID, I can help you get booze, call or text 781-710-1116." The ad was sent to the detectives.
  • At 10:02 p.m. Sunday, a Mechanic Square man called police after he saw a man get into a van that he said "doesn't belong to him." The man also noted that this has happened before. The man ran out after the supposed car thief, but the van had already taken off. Police searched for the van and found it only to find the van belonged to the man driving it.
  • At 12:08 a.m. Monday,  El Belmer, 43, 5 Prospect St., Marblehead, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and possession of class C drugs. The arrest was made on Prospect Street.
