Updated: Veterans Principal Suffers Broken Shoulder
Here are what people are taking about, "About Town."
Get Well Soon
In a note sent to school faculty and staff, Superintendent Paul Dulac has confirmed Veterans Middle School Principal Libby Moore fell at her home Monday evening and has broken her shoulder. Moore will undergo surgery today or tomorrow and be on medical leave for a least four weeks.
Assistant Principal Kilmer Sweazy will serve as acting Principal at MVMS in Moore's absence.
I'm on a creative roll this week. Maybe next week I'll get into a technology mood but today I want to talk about one of my favorite subjects...writing. Here's some reasons why I love to write in Marblehead.
DOODLE, AS IN YANKEE
Back when I was in college, I loved to walk around cool stores like Yankee Doodler at 51 Atlantic Avenue and touch the paints and canvases while imaging myself as a young and undiscovered American and female version of Monet. Since I possess no artistic talent, that fantasy was short-lived, but I still think art stores like Yankee Doodler have some pretty cool pens and papers.
SCRIBE, AS IN SCRIBE
If I ever went missing, the first place you need to check is Scribe. I am in love with this place. They have pencils that smell yummy, fabulous stationery and great pens. And probably the best cards on the planet. I think I may park myself there to pen my first novel. I love fine point flairs. What about you?
FIX, AS IN DIGITAL DOCS
Have you ever had your PC flat line just as you put the finishing touch on a brilliant masterpiece? I have many times and Stephen Bach at the Digital Docs has come to the rescue each time. I surrender to the fact that I am technology challenged and salute the savvy at Digital Docs.
SPIRIT, AS IN CATCH IT AT '76
Call me a nerd, but there's nothing I love more than roaming around a bookstore and getting inspired. I especially love the charm of small stores where the people working there actually read books and get excited about talking about their favorites. That's why I love Spirit of '76.
JAVA, AS IN SUN
Now for the real secret behind the origin of all my creative energy...the coffee bean. While some writers opt for the tranquility of the sounds of ocean and a steamy cup of herbal tea, I enjoy a jumbo java at Java Sun. In the summer, I like to sit outside and watch the dogs go by, but now that there is a nip in the air, I like to sit on a tall chair and gossip with a friend. Just kidding. Be sure to try the homemade granola!
