"We've opened a second establishment in the North End of Boston and the reason I closed is because I lost two key employees, a cook and a manager," Pellino said. "There was no way I could have had both open at the same time."

Although Pellino said he has an offer pending from someone interested in taking over the space on Washington Street, he said he plans on reopening if that deal falls through.

"Should that not happen, I have every intention of reopening sometime in May, probably around Mother's Day," Pellino said.

"I'm asking the board to please be understanding during this period of financial hardships," he said. "The reason I had to close was because there's no way I could have had both locations."

After hearing from Pellino, the Selectmen unanimously passed a motion to have him return in 30 days to give an update on the status of his restaurant.

"By that time I should definitely know what will happen," Pellino said.
