Pedestrian Struck, Injured in Front of Marblehead Starbucks
A pedestrian was struck and injured in front of the Starbucks on Pleasant Street Monday afternoon.
A pedestrian crossing Pleasant Street in front of the Marblehead Starbucks Monday afternoon was reportedly injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Shortly after 3 p.m., local police officers and firefighters responded to the busy intersection after receiving word that a pedestrian had been struck near the crosswalk leading from Starbucks to Memorial Park.
The intersection was still closed to traffic at about 3:45 p.m., and photographs were being taken of a white Mercury Sable believed to have been involved in the accident.
Police have not yet released any additional information.
Marblehead Patch will be posting additional information as it becomes available.

My observation has been that there has not been any law enforcement at the four most most dangerous intersections in town.....which include the aforementioned cross walk at Pleasant/Starbucks , the cross walk on 'walk light' at Pleasant and School, the cross walks at 5 corners and the stop sign at Pond and Green Streets.

Let me guess. Driver turning left off Essex Street, cell phone planted to side of face. My daughter and I were rear-ended many years ago by a young man in SUV and on cell phone, speed delta 50 mph. We survived without substantial injury, and nobody understands that. What I don't get is how irresponsible drivers in Massachusetts are. Despite no law preventing phone usage, texting, etc., how about acting responsibly and turning the phone off while you're driving. I'm not assuming the scenario I've described. I hope for all involved that there is a more intelligent, credible explanation for somebody being hurt. But still, just turn off the phone.

I believe there are laws in MA, that prohibited minors from using cell phones and adults from texting, while operating a motor vehicle.
Our police chief has said they are to difficult to enforce however, other towns have not found this to be the case.
My experience with the stop sign you refer to, is that it might as well not be there. Cars just pull out, with no regard, to oncoming traffic or pedestrians in the cross walk.
Likewise, the red light 'walk' signal at Pleasant and School is frequently violated.
Enforcement, enforcement enforcement!
In years past, Police Officers were frequently stationed and/or patrolled the town's busy intersections on foot........when is the last time you saw one?
