Octoberfest Aims To Keep It Local
Tickets are still available for Octoberfest this weekend.
Sample food and drink from local restaurants, check out the latest fall clothing trends from Marblehead shops and enter to win prizes, including a getaway to the Bahamas, while supporting the YMCA and Chamber of Commerce members.
Tickets are still available for the Chamber of Commerce's Octoberfest at Corinthian Yacht Club Friday at 7 p.m. In a partnership with the Lynch Van Otterloo YMCA, the annual event will include a food and sprits tastings and live and silent auction.
"The event is always good fun and showcases chamber members," Chamber President Ann Marie Casey said. "A percentage of the proceeds will go to the YMCA for their Y For All programing."
The "Y for All" program, provides financial assistance to deserving individuals and families, giving them the opportunity to participate in YMCA activities.
New this year is the "Keep it Local Fashion Show" which will feature local businesses such as Madam Had'em and the Bus Stop among others.
"In the past we've attracted 200 people but this year we will have closer to 300," Casey said. "With our partnership with the Y, they have 14,000 members and we are attracting a larger audience this year."
In addition to tastings of local restaurants' wine and spirit selection, party-go-ers will be able to bid on live and silent auction items.
"Our members have been very generous and we have some wonderful items," Casey said.
Through Wednesday, a sneak peak of the auction items is available online.
Raffle tickets are now available online for the trip for two, airfare included, four days, three nights at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas, Coral Tower.
