The former home of the Fruit of the Four Seasons on Atlantic Avenue is expected to be torn down by the end of the year to make way for a new one-story, 2,000-square-foot commercial space.

At Tuesday's meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals, members unanimously granted 34 Atlantic Avenue LLC permission to tear down the former market and build a new building in its place.

The plan was endorsed by both the Planning Board and the town's Design Review Board earlier this month, attorney Paul Lynch said Tuesday.

The new building will have two separate storefronts facing Atlantic Avenue and the latest plans call for the creation of several new parking spaces along Barnard Street.

Although the developers haven't provided a timeline for the demolition of the building, they did say they'd like to have it down by December.
