Local Woman Allegedly Leaves Scene, Kicks Cop

A local woman accused of leaving the scene of a car accident and kicking a local cop in the face denied charges in court Tuesday.

A local woman accused of leaving the scene of a drunk driving accident on Village Street and kicking a police officer in the face Sunday night denied charges in court Tuesday.

Alycia Falvey, 20, of Elm Street #5, Marblehead, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Lynn District Court to charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct.

According to a police report filed by officer Eric Osattin, at 11 p.m., officers responded to several reports of a hit-and-run crash in the area of 83 Village St. When they arrived on scene, officers reportedly found a Buick hubcap and began searching the area for a Buick with right side and front-end damage.

At 11:16 p.m., Lt. Matthew Freeman located Falvey and her damaged 1999 Buick sedan on Jersey Street near Village School. Falvey, according to the report, "had glassy bloodshot eyes, swayed when she stood" and told officers she didn't drink or do drugs because she was a surgeon.

After failing a series of field sobriety tests and registering a .15 blood alcohol reading, which is nearly twice the legal limit, Falvey was placed under arrest and taken back to the police station, according to court documents.

During the booking process, police reported that Falvey was "defiant" and refused to allow officers to take her photograph. She also reportedly kicked an officer in the face as he attempted to take off one of her shoes.

Judge Ellen Flatley released Falvey on her own recognizance and ordered her to return to court on April 4, for a pretrial hearing.
