Local Snowboarder Wins Gold

A local seventh grader was recently awarded gold medals at a national snowboarding competition.

The following information was provided by Jeffrey Morrison:

Kelly Morrison, a seventh grade student at Marblehead Veterans Middle School and a member of the Gould Academy Competition Program at Sunday River, Maine, participated in the United States of America Snowboard Association National Championship competition at Copper Mountain, Colo., the week of April 2.

Morrison, an active participant in the Maine Mountain Series, attends snowboarding events throughout Maine and competes in Boardercross, Slalom and Giant Slalom.

Having qualified for all three events at the national competition last week, Morrison brought home gold medals in her age group (12/13 years) in both Slalom and Giant Slalom.
