Last Chance: This Week's Deadlines

Here are some deadlines that are approaching in Marblehead.

Welcome to Last Chance, a new weekly feature on Marblehead Patch that will provide a list of upcoming deadlines that you may want to know about.

Here is a list of important dates that we think Marblehead residents will want to know before they start their week.

---

Dog License Deadline:

Dogs should be licensed for 2012 by March 31. Failure to do so will result in a fine. All dogs in town must be licensed at 3 months of age in accordance with state law.

The cost of the license is $15. All dog licenses expire on Dec. 31 of each year.  The Town by-law allows for a $25 fine to be assessed every 30 days starting Feb. 1.  A rabies certificate is required to obtain a dog license. You may obtain a rabies certificate from your veterinarian.

On-Street Parking Ban:

The Board of Selectmen unanimously passed a motion to end Marblehead's winter parking ban three weeks early at their meeting at Abbot Hall last week.

The parking ban, which was originally scheduled to end on April 15, will now end on Saturday, March 24 at 12:01 a.m., thanks to an unseasonably warm winter that produced very few snow and ice storms.

Art Exhibit at Marblehead Arts Association:

The Marblehead Arts Association's exhibit, featuring work by MAA artist members Richard Pohl and Eyal Oren of Marblehead, and Joan Frank of Gloucester, will run through March 25.

---

The End of Winter:

Although it was a very mild winter in Marblehead, town residents will gather to ring in spring within the Sun Circle at Preston Beach Tuesday morning.

Sponsored by the Clifton Improvement Association, the seasonal ceremony will begin promptly at sunrise, which will occur at 6:45 a.m.

---

Art Exhibit at Abbot Public Library:

The exhibit entitled "Reflections: Photographs by Bob Newman" will be showing at the Virginia A. Carten Gallery at Abbot Public Library through the end of the month.
