Hurricane Sandy: Marblehead Info Center

See a tree down in your neighborhood? Notice a road is flooded? Just saw a store clerk upload a pallet of fresh batteries? Please use this story on Marblehead Patch to help out your neighbors as we brave the storm together.

As we hunker down to ride out Hurricane Sandy, we want to make sure that Marblehead stays connected. For live updates during the storm, be sure to download our App for your smartphone or tablet and 'like' Marblehead Patch on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

As you send us messages through social media and email (owen.boss@patch.com), we’ll make sure the information is added here to this story in the comments and on the map found above. If you notice wires down or a tree across the road, please alert authorities and then let us know so we can spread the word quickly.

You can comment right on this story to make sure readers know what’s going on in your neighborhood.

While Irene lost most its bluster last year before reaching Marblehead, Sandy may be a different story. Basic items such as water and batteries may be scarce at times, as everyone stocks up to prepare for the worst. You can share info about where to find these items and who has gotten the latest delivery by commenting here.

Marblehead Patch is all about connecting neighbors and helping neighbors so we hope you’ll find this information hub helpful as we brave the storm together. Stay safe Marblehead!

Schools closed?
Town offices closed?
Ridiculous.

This is nothing but post-Katrina paranoid hype and I'm ashamed of the schools and town for falling prey to it.

Are we sheep who can't call upon experience and common sense?
This is Marblehead, after all, and 40 knot winds are hardly a reason to bring all life to a halt.

This is "chicken-Little" territory, not Armageddon, and I hope town residents call those responsible to account.

Meanwhile, I'll be out kayaking on the waves running down harbor.

Dial down the rhetoric. It was a challenging situation at high tide today. Public safety trumps the ego of ye olde salty dogs.

The Governor declared a state of Emergency and asked for all cities/towns to call off school.
Maybe it is you that was seen off Castle rock?
