How Far Would You Go on the North Shore for the Cheapest Gas?
Gas prices have spiked on the North Shore in the past month. That got us wondering: Where is the cheapest gas on the North Shore, and how far out of your way would you drive to buy it?

If you've filled up recently on the North Shore, you probably noticed gas prices are spiking.
AAA Southern New England said its survey of prices in Massachusetts on Tuesday found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.77 per gallon in the Boston metro area. That's a nickel higher than a week ago and up 30 cents over the past month.
That got us thinking: Where on the North Shore is the cheapest gas? Depending on where you live, how far would you drive to buy it?
Using Mapquest data, we found the lowest price in North Shore Patch towns to be Concord Gas in Danvers, which charged $3.49 on Tuesday. Highest was Lynnfield, where you'd shell out $3.80 a gallon at the Mobil.
Of course if you belong to clubs like Costco or BJs, you can sometimes get lower-than-average prices.

When gas prices rise, I check www.gasbuddy.com before filling up. (Current price at Concord Gas in Danvers is listed at $3.78/gal.)

Curious why you posted that station's price? Most Salem station's are cheaper buy as much as 9 cents per gallon.

Hess & Global usually run neck & neck on whose the lowest in Salem. Thankfully, I don't have to drive far for either one. $3.73 today.

Why even bother traveling a long ways for cheaper gas when the waste of gas it takes to get there is equal to the difference in price? Its like the people that buy grocery and shop in New Hampshire, If they add up the gas it takes to get there? How much do they real save? "Not much of anything!"

FYI for the blame bush crowd - to follow your line of reasoning, Bush inherited a mess from clinton as well as 9-11? so many things Bush did that i did not agree with but he never blamed clinton for 9-11 even tho it happened 8 months after he inherited that office - obama is a disaster for this country and the rammifications of what he is doing will be felt throughout the lifetimes of our children and theirs and to deny that is the height of ignorance-49% of this country is awake while 51% continue to sleep

If you purchase 16 gallons of gas and save 10 cents by driving to a different gas station you are only saving $1.60. Since it costs 50 - 60 cents a mile to operate a vehicle the most you should drive out of your way is less than 1.5 miles (assuming you'll have to drive 1.5 miles to get back on track for a total of 3 miles). This also assumes however that your time is worth almost nothing.
