Grown Ups 2 Shoot in Old Town Today
Scenes for the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2 will be shot on Washington Street today.
If you're planning on driving through Marblehead's historic district today, don't be surprised if you run into a mid-day traffic jam or spot some Hollywood celebrities.
Scenes for the star-packed Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2 will be shot on Washington Street over the next few days - meaning traffic and parking will be restricted along the often-traveled roadway while cameras are rolling.
Early this morning, work continued inside of the Old Town House, which is expected to be turned into Salma Hayek's aerobics studio for a scene shot this morning.
Late last week, a small crowd of town residents gathered outside of Mud Puddle Toys on Pleasant Street to watch as film crews transformed the toy store into a replica of Manchester New Hampshire's Red Arrow Diner.
The plan, according to Location Manager Mark Fitzgerald, is to shoot the aerobics studio scene today and then shoot an exterior scene at Mud Puddle Toys (Red Arrow Diner) and an interior at a nearby business either tomorrow or Wednesday.
- Old Town House - Monday, June 11: From 5 p.m. on Sunday June 10 to 9 p.m. on June 11, no parking will be allowed on Washington Street on the southeast side from State Street to the entrance to Crosby's Marketplace. Old town? They are filming in Maine? That area of Marblehead is correctly referred to as downtown.

Thank you HLS for the correction, I was just about to do the same. I am an "off islander", but even I know that it is downtown! Seems like the local press should too!

Nowhere in the article do I see the area being referred to as Old Town, but the building being called the Old Town House.

"Old Town House" is not the same as describing a "house in Old Town".

The reference was to "the historic district", which includes downtown.

I am from here and it has always been "old Town" and downtown was the Atantic Ave. and Pleasant St. where all the business and restaurants are. I work in Old Town. My father grew up across the street from the old town house. Do you want to know some of the namesof the streets and areas from eras gone by. They are not the ones on the posts. Ask a "header"

The headline referred to the geographical location as " Old town". Not the article.

Sorry, Sue, downtown is most of the historic district.
When it was built up no one was calling it "old town".
It was new then, after all.
It was "downtown" then and it's "downtown" now.
Fifty years just isn't enough to change that.

Yes, Peter... I clearly remember as a kid saying let's go uptown if we were going to eatons or Damon tuckers, etc... If someone asked me where I lived I would reply "downtown"... I lived on Mechanic St and later on State St... That's downtown!

Fascinating conversation people. I prefer to call both neighborhoods "Pompousville".

Honestly does it truly matter if it's called downtown or Old Town or Ye Olde Towne?!

I'm from a small town in Maine - Old Town. It'll always be the real Old Town to me! But having lived here for over 40 years, I think it's strange that people still can't agree on the name. Obviously, it's personal preference.
