Is this ever going to stop? It's exciting to have the movie filming here but is it just me or does everyone feel that the selectman rolled over and gave the producers free reign of the town. It's nice that they notified residents near 5 corners, but let's be real - most of the town drives through that area and unless you caught this online, you won't know about it and be able to plan ahead to avoid the traffic mess that will inevitably hit the area.

Knowing what has been going on in town these past few weeks, I would think it would be the individual's responsibility to keep themselves informed if they are worried about being inconvienced. If they don't have access to a computer all one has to do is call the police dept. - not too hard!

Every week there is an update to what will be shooting where over the week. They have done a fantastic job in getting this out to us so we can plan accordingly. I think the whole town has benefited greatly from their being here, and it makes it fun to have so many star watching opportunities. It surely isn't hard to find out where they will be, so why complain about it?

I am very pleased to have them here making a fun film. Our little town is so beautiful and I love sharing it with others. A little detour never hurt anyone.

Quit bitchin' & complaining....they are here for most of the summer, so get use to it.
Again, we should feel priviledged and lucky that they even want to be here filming.

You are all clueless. Go stalk some celebrities. A lot of people are tired of playing dodge 'em every time we need to get somewhere. By the way, they are getting significant tax breaks to film in Mass. That's money from your pockets. I don't have a problem with them filming here, just wish it was less obtrusive than it has been. We should also want to make sure that the TOWN is benefiting financially from this (local businesses are fine but I'm talking about the town). We don't need to be subsidizing your summer amusement at our expense.

Poor "Oldtown", I think the heat is making you cranky. Pour yourself a glass of iced tea and chill out, it will all wrap up by the end of summer, just like we were told. In the mean time, stay tuned to Patch for timely updates about their filming schedule so you can plan your minor inconveniences accordingly.

I can't believe all the complaints about the inconvenience of the filming there. Im from Lowell MA and they did some filming here. It was a privilege to get to see them and they were all courteous and took the time to take pictures with fans etc. I wish they would come back here to film. They were welcomed in Lowell with open arms. I took my daughters to Marblehead to try to see them again but unfortunately the day we went they werent filming. You dont know how lucky you are to have them there. And I do believe they donated a substantial amount of money to your town for allowing them to film there. They are not the arrogant ones your are Samuel! Get over it! With all the real problems this world has I cant believe people are complaining about this.!!! Linda

Nice try Sue. I'm 10th generation Header. No yuppies here. They rented their houses to the production company.

We are lucky to have the film here in order to show the world how beautiful and unusual our town is. Adam Sandler has a down to earth friendly guy who speaks glowingly about Marblehead on national TV. He and his film crew and co-actors are welcome here.

Linda, Please learn to spell before letting us in on your exciting life.
Sue, One does not have to be a yuppie to enjoy what we have here in Marblehead. I think they all moved to Cambridge anyway---
I would LOVE to see some of that $80,000,000 spread around the town and not just going to the realtors, police and fire depts.

Like most things, this experience is a mix. Getting a glimpse of how Hollywood works is fun for a lot of people, who generally stop being starstruck when they see how tedious the real work of filming can be. Many of the stars in town are "real folks" who happen to be famous -- we had an Adam Sandler & family sighting at Devereux Beach last night, & he seems like a normal dad who plays & has fun & also yells at his kids when they don't follow directions. The Town Coffers aren't benefiting much from the filming -- about $110,000, which is just a drop in that multi-million budget, but businesses and residents who are renting their spaces out are probably netting more. I've been cut off more than twice by those big black vehicles with orange NY plates, and inconvenienced a bit by traffic re-routing, etc., as have we all. The end result? A typically Adam Sandler low-brow comedy, plus a little extra cash, a little inconvenience, and a little bit of fun and notoriety for our lovely town. It will be over in August. No need to throw rocks and names at each other over something so short-lived and minor in the long run. Deep breaths, everybody.
