Man Killed in Libya Embassy Attack Leaves Family in Marblehead
One of the four men killed in an attack on the US embassy in Libya Wednesday night has Marblehead ties.
The brother of a Marblehead woman was killed in Libya Wednesday night during an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.
Glen Doherty, 42, of Winchester, Mass., was identified Thursday as one of four killed in the attack - his sister, Kate Quigley, of Marblehead, participated in a brief press conference in front of his mother's home in Woburn Thursday.
Kate Quigley said her brother "lived his life to the fullest," according to a Boston.com report. Quigley also asked for privacy while the family grieved.
"We as a community are outraged and devastated to learn that Winchester native and former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty was one of the four people killed during terrorist attacks at the U.S. Embassy in Libya," Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin said.
Quigley said publicly that her brother had previously been a Navy SEAL where he was trained as a sniper and medical corpsman and left the service four years ago to provide security for American officials overseas.
