Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Opening Soon
An Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt will open on Atlantic Avenue later this summer.
Construction on the interior of an Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt that will open on Atlantic Avenue later this summer is expected to begin sometime this week.
According to Michael Hennessy, the man leasing the 1,200-square-foot space next to RE/MAX, the location will be the frozen yogurt chain's second to open in Massachusetts and the 200th nationwide.
"We're very excited about that location on Atlantic," Hennessy said Friday afternoon. "We've been given the go-ahead to start building and we should start swinging hammers sometime next week."
The frozen yogurt store will have some competition - it is opening less than 100 yards from where Terry's Ice Cream Shop is expected to reopen later this summer.
There is already an Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt open in Andover and additional locations are expected to open soon in Belmont, Lexington, Melrose, Newburyport, Newton, Reading, Salem, Seekonk and Westford, according to the company's website.
As for when he'll be open for business, Hennessy said he "hopes to be open by mid-June" and noted that "Fourth of July weekend would be the absolute latest."

Ah yes — another example of what I call "the chaining of America."
The product may be very good, but I generally prefer to support local businesses. I hope they won't drive any existing businesses out of business.

As I understand it, Orange Leaf was started in San Fran, recently acquired by owner who is from Midwest. They own 66 stores, and now are offering franchises. In addition to a store in Andover, i think they are opening one at the Northshore mall too. Its an invasion, and while its nice to see empty storefronts in Marblehead being occupied, its nicer to support and patronize local businessmen who source local products.
Try to support local small businesses.
