1. Be prepared for some wet weather today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect rain and thunderstorms today. It will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 51. (sunrise, 6:28 a.m.; low tide, 7:54 a.m.; high tide, 2:07 p.m.; sunset, 6:45 p.m.)

2. At their meeting Tuesday night, members of the Recreation and Parks Commission unanimously endorsed the Marblehead All-Sports Foundation's efforts to get a synthetic turf field at Marblehead High School before the 2013 fall sports season. Click Here to read the full story.

4. Marblehead High School's girls' varsity soccer team will take on Saugus this afternoon at Piper Field. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m., so consider stopping by to cheer them on!

5. Today in History: On Sept. 19, 1676, Jamestown was burned to the ground by the forces of Nathaniel Bacon during what would later come to be called Bacon's Rebellion.
