Fire Chief Makes Pitch for New Quint Ladder Truck: Fire Chief Jason Gilliland appeared before the Finance Committee Wednesday night and explained how a new $1.2 million quint ladder truck would help the fire department better-serve the residents of Marblehead. The name "quint" means five, and refers to the five functions that a quint provides: pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial ladder and ground ladders.
Local Woman Wins Big on Wheel of Fortune: Laura Cooper, of Marblehead, was the big winner on Tuesday night's episode of Wheel of Fortune, walking away with $20,550, including a $7,000 trip to China. Cooper, who said appearing on the show was a "dream come true," breezed her way into the bonus round by solving the puzzles "Famed Explorer Marco Polo," "Playing Dominos" and "Refrigerator Repairman."

5 Corners Kitchen Expanding: Work to rebuild the interior of 5 Corners Kitchen is underway and the School Street restaurant will be taking over the space formerly occupied by Terry's Ice Cream Shop, according to a post on the business' Facebook page.
Soall Bistro Ready for Soft Opening: Work inside Village Plaza's newest restaurant, Soall Bistro, was full-steam ahead Monday afternoon as sibling owners Mia Lunt and Tan Nguyen prepared to open their doors to customers. The Vietnamese restaurant is opening on Bessom Street in the former home of Kitsen Table and Lunt said a "soft opening" is planned for either Thursday or Friday. A grand opening, she said, will take place in the coming weeks.
