Evening Woodworking Classes

Marblehead Community Charter Public School

Join a woodworking course with your son or daughter to make beautiful and useful projects.   There will be two classes per week (Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30–9:00 pm) for four weeks -- a total of eight classes.

                        Nov 14th            Nov 16th

                        Nov 28th             Nov 30th                                   

                        Dec 5th                        Dec 7th

 

The course is designed for an adult plus a student* to work together on a project!  This will be a great opportunity to work with your son or daughter building three unique projects.  Both of you will learn how to use many of the tools and machines in a wood shop. 

* Student must be in 7th - 12th grade.

 

Projects:            Turn a wood pen (for each person to take home)

                        Create and design your own Mirror Frame*

**Custom design a cutting board

** If we have time!

 

Total cost is $250 and includes all materials.

            *Please note the mirror frame project does not include mirror glass and installation.

 

Course will cover:

§       Shop safety

§       Use of small wood lathes and tools

§       Use of table saw

§       Use of joiner

§       Use of a band saw

§       Use of a pocket hole jig

§       Use of a drill press

§       Learning about several types of wood

§       Designing patterns and layout of projects

§       Use of other finishing tools
