Children's Island Day at the YMCA

The first Children's Island day was held at the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA on Tuesday, December 28th. This was a great opportunity for kids and parents to get a taste of what will be offered this summer at the Children's Island day camp.

For an afternoon, the Y lobby was transformed into a camp site and the pool was turned into an island beach where Children's Island camp activities were offered free of charge to any children that wanted to be involved.

Participants who came to the pool were able to try their hand at kayaking and snorkeling, while those at the lobby campsite got to try their hand at making gimp lanyards, creating a dream catcher, and building delicious no fire s'mores.

More Children's Island days are planned for February and April school vacations! They will showcase other island activities including tidepooling, archery, and fishing.
